August 1999

I found a piece of August 1999 monthly overview from my old diary while tidying-up the cabinet this morning. It was a piece of my life record in 1999, an important event happened that month, I graduated from off campus programme, my bachelor degree from University of Technology Mara. *I obtained my Diploma in Building from the same campus in 1989.

1st - 6th August : I was on medical leave after the second operation in Tawakal Hospital by ENT specialist, Dr Kandiah in July 1999. Dr Kandiah discovered that he forgot to clear the blocked on the left side after he successfully removed the right side blocked side few years back. The Tawakal paediatrician found out after various tests that the viral sinus caused the pneumonia. 

9th August : Miri Arbitration meeting with solicitors. It was my 1st arbitration experience which I initiated in 1997 when the project was terminated. MMC was in Joint Venture with UDL Dockyard Limited, a Hong Kong dredging contractor. It was a personal assignment as I willing to withdrawn 2 resignation letters due to close and personal attachment to "fighting for success". It last for 10 years.

10th August : Tender closing date for Kuantan Kerteh Railway Civil Package for Petronas where MMC was bidding in Joint Venture with Franky Construction. I was working for the tender till submission date including my MC period and the night before submission, nobody went back till we packed everything and successfully submitted the next day. For the record, we secured the contract. I was personally did my best including offering special prayer hoping that I will be sent to project site in Kuantan. Boss did not agreed and teared my 1st termination letter as he said he needed me in HQ. He smiled when I told him that he is a selfish man.

14th August : Those graduated (not all finished the programme on the scheduled period of 3 years, only 4 of us) had arranged a special graduation dinner at Radisson Hotel, Shah Alam. What a memory to possess a Bsc in Construction Management at 33 years old with 4 kids. I had Nasrul during the second year of study. 

16th August : My 33 yrs old birthday

17th August : Naim was celebrating his 5 years old birthday

For some reason, the graduation photo is now in our bedroom as I thought the frame suited the bedside lamp. At that time, in early 2010 the photo was laying at my reach.

Naim was not presence as he was with my late mother at the time the photo was captured.
