What matter is “The Unity of Malaysian People”

Date: 13th May 2018

I have been voting since PRU13. It must be shocking to some but I have my reasons for not doing so before. I grew up in rural Kelantan where the people are being divided into “BN” or “PAS”. Everything has been separated in the name of the political parties. There are 2 mosque, 2 surau, 2 community hall and even the families argued over political disparity in my village. My family for instance has similar problem. Both of my parent are PAS members but our 2 neighbours (both are mother’s cousin) are not. BN sides are more liberal whilst PAS supporter being seen as traditional, conservative. Since young age, I hate the fact that the politician’s malicious act that separated the nation, the states, the villages, the families and the unity of the people. They doing so for their own benefit, to attract voters and as soon as they being elected as leaders, they ended up being so corrupt in managing the countries.

My father brought us up with just and moral values. He never take advantages of him assisting PAS party for his family benefit. He sponsored our studies with his savings. I did not enjoy any scholarship from the government except some small assistance from JKR, where he worked. I received minor compensation when I excel in my studies from JKR. So, I never expected to get support from the Government hence I do not any relevance for me to involve in voting at all the election.

In 2007, while waiting for travel arrangement to Karachi, I was for a short while station in IJM Headquarters. I started to buy newspaper reading about Altantuya’s murder case. Dato’ Seri Najib (hereinafter refer as DSN) and the wife were both linked to the case. I started to focus to this couple and little did I know at that time that the couple has a gut to do a lot more harm to the nation. What was concluded at that time was; DSN has misused his power being a Minister of Defence in getting his political aid, Abdul Razak Baginda freed from all allegation relating to Altantuya case. DSN and his political aid were clearly involved in the dealing to purchase the Scorpene submarines from France for the Malaysian government. Altantuya, who being filled with greed had threatened Abdul Razak Baginda only over USD11,000 and that caused her death. I personally concluded that the case is too big for DSN to clear his link to the murder case and will no longer has any privileges in the party.

However, after the election on 2008 (PRU12), DSN star started to shine brightly. Never in my rational thought could imagine that he would be elected as the Prime Minister of Malaysia and serve the country from 3rd April 2009 till 10th May 2018. How could, the only person that can authorise the 2 Government officer’s Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar to take out an explosives in the stock of federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman to be used in the murder of Altantuyaa being trusted with the most scared position in Malaysia. He is in power for 9 years where a lot more bad incidents happened to Malaysia.

Thereafter, I enrolled myself in University Malaya to take up a Degree in Jurisprudence to understand more about the rule of law and the governing matter. The only way to outcast the sacred post, Prime Minister is through exercising my right as Malaysian. I registered and started voting in 2013. Unfortunately DSN star was at his peak. Allah wanted to punish the Malaysian as we, the pupils are deserving to have DSN due to our ignorance too. Not long after, everyone started to change including Tun Mahathir. That was the results of 2018, i.e. PRU14. Now, as I’m writing this, justice started to surface one by one, including the truth about the RM2.6Billion scandal. But be careful, politicians are still politician. Not many people can put aside the temptation of “cash is king”.

Moving forward, though my prayer has been answered when DSN was overthrown and prohibited from leaving the country, I continue my prayer daily, seeking Allah’s assistance to guide all of Malaysian to gradually change for the better. Once we change, people around us will change too and who knows that one day the whole politician who is entrusted with power will carry duties following the Holy Book and the Rule of Malaysian Law. I would end this entry with small portion of Rumi’s quote of “Pity the Nation”

Pity the nation whose statesman is a fox,
whose philosopher is a juggler,
and whose art is the art of patching and mimicking.

Pity the nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpeting,
and farewells him with hooting,
only to welcome another with trumpeting again.

Pity the nation whose sages are dumb with years
and whose strong men are yet in the cradle.
Pity the nation divided into fragments,
each fragment deeming itself a nation"

Naim's experiencing Europe Tour

Date: 15th January 2017

Patience is what I needed the most for not being able to continue my train travel journey since my return from Moscow., i.e. the last Train Rides. Besides, reading according to Mason Cooley gives a person someplace to go when we have to stay where we are. By the way, Mason Cooley was an American aphorist famously known for his aphorisms. One of the other famous aphorism that he has developed was "the time I kill is killing me". He was formerly a professor emeritus of French, speech and world literature at the College of Staten Island. He died in 2002. Getting my son to check on the routes and surveying the places that hubby and I would explore during my retirement is another healing process for my travel craves. Hence, this are the story of his recent trip, fully sponsored by the parents.

At St Paul's Cathedral, London

At his favorite football team, Chelsea Stamford Bridge Stadium

I planned for Naim's trip to UK initially for vacationing with only his brother, Nazhif. Not many people knows that raising Naim to what he is now caused so much worries and headache. When he finally graduated with a mere Diploma in Public Relation I, for once was really over the moon. It doesn't matter when he reassured again and again that he has done with college life. It's a promise between us that Diploma is the basic education, one should at least has. Nevertheless, parents are responsible as an oath to raise their kids well when Allah has granted a child as a trust from Him to us. Naim is one the species that gave so much headache when he started entering the secondary school. He pick-up smoking habit right after, at the age of 13 and now on a cheaper kind of smoke, Vapes (cheaper according to him). The trip was a final gift to him in return of a promise to being a well matured grown up. He knew that he has his lifetime to pay us back. A payment is through his proven success being a credible righteous Muslim man.

At Royal Pavillion in Brighton

A meal that he cooked to save pocket money while occupying a rented house in Bath, booked through Air BNB

I might have told my sister as I couldn't remember well how Luqman, his cousin was tagging along in the vacation plan. What I remembered clearly, I was a bit reluctant when Lugman's cousin wanted to join too when my sister's did suggested to him. Being a cool and nice guy, Naim assured me that he has no issue to have another 1 more traveller accompanying him. Nazhif and I are really impressed with Naim as he is too cool with people, unlike us 2. We are a little bit impatient when dealing with people, especially with people who unable are unable to follow our pace. I would say that Naim shared a bit of hubby's character in that zone.

At Royal Crescent, Bath

At Clifton Suspension Bridge

The initial plan was to tour all Britain states, including Wales and 2 cities in Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) plus a  new year eve in Eiffel Tower, Paris. But I got really busy when it was time to book and confirmed the transportation and deciding on the accommodation. Actually, more on feeling stingy to charge those expenses into my credit card. I took Madrid out from the itinerary just because I was too lazy to think about how would he travel from Madrid to Barcelona. When Nazhif advised that flight to Barcelona is cheaper than to Madrid, I straightaway omitted Madrid from the list. They ended spent longer time in London due to that. By right, I should have let him flew to Madrid, rent a car touring Madrid and travel by road with the same rented car to Barcelona. It would not cost much after all. Sigh... well, one can't turn back the time, right!

At Clevedon's Pier where One Direction's "You & I" music video was filmed

Few days ago when HSBC emailed Dec/January charges made mostly for Naim's hotel, Air BNB, flight, buses and or what was spent before he returned on 6th January 2017, I tidy-up the actual expenses paid for his trip. It is all confirmed that if I was not lazy he could have explore Madrid at ease. The journey by road to Barcelona would even be more wonderful. Apparently, it doesn't cost much to cover 2 cities at 1 go as living expenses is rather cheap in Spain, in comparing to UK's main cities and/or Paris. The actual pocket money (cash) for food and shoppings, the accommodation and the transportation cost only slightly above RM14 thousand (GBP2,500). Unbelievable isn't it?

At Manchester United's Stadium, clearly not a fan

Enjoying a stroll at Christmas Market at Manchester Town Hall

I'm sharing in this entry some photos he took while following all itineraries and places to visit according to my wishlist. At times, he has been forced to wake up early and explored the cities according to what his mother want. Our priorities are different. He just loves taking his daily outfit like a model pose for magazines, in other word, a person traveling in style. Being on the move for 37 days and 2 other characters that different from him was not an easy task. I realised his difficulties when he returned and shared his adventures. Whatever it was, the satisfaction and his appreciation to us, the parent is priceless. Worth all the efforts and money spent.

At Glasgow Cathedral, such a poser he is

In Aberdeen's city before heading to Invarness

I will share details itineraries and expenses at main cities that he visited should you wanted to travel on tight budget yet stylish according to a 22 year old man. Naim surprised me when answering to what is his most favorite place among all places visited, he quoted an adventure in Scotland's Highland was his best memories. Second in his list when in Barcelona as the cost of living is rather cheaper than in London or Paris. Paris was a highlight of the trip since he spent 6 days and 5 nights with his brother, who mostly look after his meal. The Paris apartment is so cosy and homely for all 5 of them to stay. They usually cooked early lunch and dinner there. While exploring the city, they merely break for light meals and/or coffee to feel warm after walking and exploring in the cold winter weather. However, Paris is rather busy with tourist at the end of the year, especially people with mutual intention that wishes to celebrate new year in the city of lights. It made all attractions packed with people who were queuing to visit. Many places I listed were not visited.

Imitating a model's pose (rather copy and paste) at Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

New H&M Trench Coat with Eiffel Tower as a background

But one thing about Naim is that he is a person who thinks that his look is more important than other things. He couldn't be bothered to visit all places that I indicated in the POI list. Most of the time I have to call and reminded for him to enter those visited place. For example, the museums, the Beatles's Story (rather Beatles museum house) which he complaints as its all required entrance fee. Paying entrance fees mean limiting his pocket money for shopping. It was so important that he dresses well for the photo, OOTD what not. He has set his mind to buy the brown trench coat in above photo right before his travel. He couldn't find sizes that suited him in Prime Mark and finally made a wassap call for permission to buy that in Paris, without any discounted price.

In overall, he's been complaining of only 2 things, that there's no boxing sales day in Barcelona and no fireworks at Eiffel Tower. Apparently, the new year firework was held at Arc De Tiomphe which theoretically can be viewed from Eiffel Tower. The weather was not good on that new year eve, forbids all beautiful fireworks from spreading into Paris night skyline. How pitiful...

To be continued if I see appropriate to do so.

Nasrul's 19th Birthday at Chillis Suria KLCC

Event's date: 25th December 2016 (late post)

Nasrul came back the week of his birthday. Though he demanded for a Christmas tree after a long years not mentioning it and a gift to be placed under the tree, I didn't actually bother to entertain. We have been negotiating a lot about his birthday gift being 19. A week later, he won the negotiation but what the return promises that he obliged to do is even more priceless. He didn't say anything about the Christmas tree when he woke up in the morning and when he obediently followed us for a beautiful wedding at Cyberjaya. And seriously Cyberjaya is indeed a very beautiful place for a wedding. Further, it gave me a feeling of touring into a foreign city. No wonder both Putrajaya and Cyberjaya are places for tourist who visited Malaysia. After the wedding we went to check the household items we purchased at Harvey Norman in Damansara. That gamer sets in second photo was his motivation to buy when he started earning his own money. He said that, not me. Importantly I did not even want to promise people anything anymore these days, especially those price IT stuff.

Huge Christmas Tree at Suria KLL waterfront, snapped after dinner

After Harvey Norman, we went straight to KLCC for his birthday dinner in Chillis. Little did we know that our family’s most favourite place to hang out for special function, i.e. Chilli’s first location was opened in 1975 in Dallas. They started with their signature dishes of burgers, ribs and fajitas. No wonder we can’t resist of visiting again and again as they have created this restaurant as a place for their customers with the same mind-set. That is a place to hang out with good friends and family over for a foods and a drinks. Another interesting fact is that the first restaurant in Dallas was converted from a post office into a well famous restaurant named as Chili’s.

The birthday boy and the starter, Salads!

Weird choice of mine, a Salmon Steak which I ended not liking it that much

Chillis has grown widely since Dallas and claimed their place in the restaurant industries in many parts of the cities, including in Kuala Lumpur. Chillis restaurant can be found in 32 different countries where in Mexico, they have just recently celebrated their 20 years existence in the country. We’ve been at Chillis first outlet in KLCC since its opening and never failed to return frequently, usually for a steak and burgers. They have few outlet in Kuala Lumpur city, the first one is located on 3rd Floor Suria KLCC, another is a plot in G10 Bangsar Shopping Complex (BSC), also at Lot G(E) Mid Valley and finally at Chitta Mall. Do drop by should you are happen to be in nearby areas.

Sirloin Steak for hubby

A chicken and ribs combo for birthday boy

We have that party dinner only the four of us whilst Naim was at that time having a blast Christmas vacation in Barcelona and Nazhif was taking a flight to London, thereafter a bus ride to Paris to meet Naim and his girlfriend Yaya. We met Syahirah in KLLC where she joined us straight from her work place. Good thing that the waiting time was not that long, usually lasted to 1 hour. It was just half an hour in our case. We bought a movie ticket, Assasin Creed to watch at TGV’s Cinema seated adjacent to Chillis after dinner. What a fine and convenience arrangement to celebrate one happy birthday dinner.

Syahirah finished only half of her rib's. The balance portion was taken away

Complimentary birthday cake from Chillis

The meal that we ordered are as what I shared in this entry. The price are equal to what other fine dining in the city. It cost us a few hundreds and a happy tummy. You may call first to book in other to shorten the queue time. Take note that all drinks are free refill. Enjoy!

Thank you son for bringing so much joy and contentment to me

Nazhif first backpacker trip in UK & Ireland

A week has gone by since Nazhif left to continue his student life in Glasgow. And few days ago, the university that I'm currently pursuing my law degree had sent the 2016/2017 scheduler through email. It means my study break is almost over. Classes to resume very soon. Time running very fast, yet I'm still at the point where I am now, dreaming as if I'm having a peaceful lifetime vacation without any heavy commitment to pick up a book. Sigh, I become too lazy. My blog has not even move to any next level too though I keep on reminding myself that reading and writing are 2 main things to do after the exam had ended in late August month. He thanked me by saying "my trip could not be perfect without the help of my mom. Although she is in Malaysia but she planned my last minute trip, and I just went for it, always a phone call away when I'm stuck"... and I've been awarded in a hashtag #Igotacoolmum.

The highlight of the 2015 trip - celebrating new year at London Eye, with this view is definitely priceless!

You know how touch I was, being appreciated? It mean a world to receive a sincere appreciation for a little thing that I did.

At Buckingham Palace with all 3 GMI (German Malaysia Institute) ex-colleques who are pursuing Master Degree in UK

In summary, from 31/12/2015 till 09/01/2016, his solo trip takes him from Glasgow - London - Bristol - Bath - Stonehenge - Birmingham - Sheffield - Manchester - Liverpool - Dublin - Glasgow. 9 cities in 10 days where he missed 3 buses schedule, crashed at his friends house in Bristol, Sheffiled, Manchester and Dublin. Though I have given him a budget of 500 Pound, he actually spent only half of it. Mainly due to a huge savings from accommodation cost.

At Bath Abbey *Am missing this pure, genuine smile

Despite his unwillingness to visit Stonehenge because to him it's just a stone but to me it's not an ordinary stone, this stonehenge. So in the end he reflected to my request. And he sent this photo with a message "This is for you Ma!"

He was stranded for few hours at Birmingham Bus Station due to misunderstanding on platform/buses schedule and ended touring Birmingham city with these 2 friends who came to take him around. Behind is the St Martin Church located at Bullring, Birmingham city centre.

Well mannered boy in Starbuck

My sinus infection symptom seems to come back after few years of feeling cured. Would never thought that it return after going through 2 operations about 15 years ago. I came to know about it when I had a serious sinus infection fever that made the doctor prescribed a very strong antibiotics for 5 days last month. Due to a travel back to my hometown, eating so much foods during last weekend, I started to feel throat itchiness 2 nights ago. Yesterday, it gets very bad after we return from a site office for a meeting. Since I was busy, I thought of trying my own medicine, available in stock judging from what the doctor had advised a month ago. This morning, I went to see a doctor for a proper advised and medicine prescription.

4 shots of strong Americano and Croissant

After a serious discussion with the doctor, collected my medicine, I thought of having a strong coffee to boost my energy and grab a sandwich at Starbucks. The young boy, Naz greeted me with huge sincere smile. I was not in the mood of starting a conversation but this boy attempted one by asking "how was your morning, mam?". And I thought to myself, such a fine and well mannered boy. His mother has trained him well.

I : Look at my medicine, I just came back from seeing a doctor
He : Argh, I see, you went to Mediviron!
I : Yes, and how old are you?
He : I'm 17 mam, just finished my SPM
I : Oh, I see, my youngest boy is 18. So how was your result?
He : I obtained 4A, 3B, 2C
I : So, where are you planning to further your study
He : I'm waiting for a call from UiTM
I : Are you alone today?
He: No, there's another person beside me

We chatted for few minutes, while he prepared for my Americano and heat-up the croissant that I ordered. After that I wished him all good luck and headed back towards the office. I cant' help but wanting to write about him in my blog. He conversed very well in English though he is a Malay boy. Starbucks is among few places for teenagers, who after school or those waiting for permanent job to start a career with. It is a right place for someone who wants to build up their communication and public relation skills. Judging from few characters from candidates who turned up for interview at my office since the past few days, I felt that graduates should seriously train themselves in presenting themselves well when sitting in the interview room. Candidates are supposed to sell themselves and the interviewer like me, should only listen, form an opinion take risk and engaged a right candidate.

I pray there's a lot more good young boy outside who can bring proud to the Nations... we need you the future generations to lead the country well.

Rest in Peace dear sister

On Friday early morning, around 2 a.m, I received a call from my sister Roshayati that my dear sister Rosnani was in a car accident at 10.45pm, Thursday night. A strange feeling suddenly emerged and I merely able repeating "Allahuakbar (Allah is Great)" to whatever my sister had told me on the phone. A saddened Friday morning indeed to start with. Hence, we spent the whole Friday, 12th February 2016 productively to be with her on her last day on this earthly life. This is the story of what happened that day.

She pose beautifully when I snapped her photo while strolling Paris in 2015

With a heavy heart I slowly arise from my bed, sat silently on the edge, doing nothing as nothing came into mind. From Allah we came and from Allah we shall return "Innalillahhiwainnailahirojiun" was all I can say. An arrangement has been made by my siblings who lives in nearby, my brother from Nilai will fetch another brother from Kajang and later my sister before fetching me in Cheras. It was decided that all 4 of us will travel in 1 car in order to be there with her at the fastest possible time. We need each other in a situation like that, just the way we were when we went back for our late father's final day. Thereafter, I performed a non-obligatory Tahajud prayer after I was done with short getaway luggage, unsure how long I would be away. We were supposed to travel to Singapore for a wedding that weekend. But no one had a heart to discuss those plans anymore. Everyone were in despair, a silent mode.

At 2.20pm when the machine was shut off, my sister Roshayati was hugging our younger nephew, Syafiqah

At around 4.30 am, we departed from my house and started to gather what had actually happened. My late sister apparently had urged her daughter Aishah to drive a Perodua Kancil car to send her best friend home after she closed her shop that night. Aishah was a bit reluctant but the mother pleaded. According to Aishah, her mother was all excited, looking forward as if she was ready to meet the Almighty. 3 of them were in a small car, and at 10.45pm, near a junction entering to her friend's house, a Toyota Vios suddenly hit their car from behind. You may see the conditions of both cars after the incident, snapped for police report attachment in below photos.

Mys sister was in passenger's seat, her friend at the back and Aishah on driver seat
No physical bodily injury to Vios passenger's

My sister's friend, who sat at passenger's seat at the back was greatly impacted by the impact. It took 2 hours for the Bomba to move her out from the car. She is miraculously alive and responded to medical assistance while transferring her fractured body (severely fractured from waist down) to the emergency unit. Whilst, my sister was in coma from the time the incident occurs to the time she passes. She spoke to no one, she passed away while in coma, declared as "brain death" by the medical team. The only thing we heard (hearsay) was from one of the niece that she did open her eyes at around 6 am when the doctors advised to gather all family members.

While waiting to be transferred to the Forensic Room

We received a phone call from our youngest brother at around 6pm informing that the doctor wishes to off the life supporting machine but unable to do so as no immediate next-of-kin to sign the release form. Her new husband and her children were not at the hospital at the time where I suspected was the last breath she had on her. We arrived at the hospital 4 hours later, and Syafikah, her youngest daughter was the one who straightaway came and hugging me so tightly while uncontrollably crying non-stop in my arm. I am in tears while writing this too, as I could understood her loss and her strong love towards her late mother, like I was in 1992. My sister Roshayati took Syafikah in her arm  when the life support machine shows an infinity sign and everybody accepted that was her last moment in this world. My sister was officially certified dead at 2.25pm on 12th February 2016, age 53 years old.

In a hospital van taking her to the forensic room and to our family house in Bachok

Everything went smoothly after that. My sister and I were at her side almost at the whole time before her body was taken to the burial ground. From the time when she was on the waiting room, in the van to forensic room, we and her daughters were together for her last shower, in the van to house and when he body was lifted to the burial ground. Miraculously that nothing happened to Aishah except only minor bruises even though she was the one who drove the car. The doctor who attended to her in another hospital agreed to discharge her so that she can join us in a forensic room to perform the final ritual, her final shower. We finished wrapping her body when it was time for Asar prayer. If not due to a delays by the police who came very late to certify the death, we could have buried her right after Asar prayer.

We left the hospital in a hearse (a hospital van that carries dead body). Four of us, including her husband and daughter, Ashikin accompanied her all the way home. Our relatives from all over the places were already waiting at home. We placed her at the same hall where the bodies of our beloved father, mother, 2 grandmothers and sister Nuraida used to wait before salat al-janazah were performed. Things happened for a reason, best known to Allah and I do not wish to share publicly of my conclusion why she finally be buried after Isha' prayer. For all good reason, her mother in law (her 1st husband) and relatives on their side able to bid farewell since they came all the way from Perak.

Waiting for police to record the death before taking her out from the Forensic room

Death is something very certain to all human being. We just need to be prepared 24 hours for our time to come. I did whisper to my sister of my wishes to get everyone, especially my children not to shed tears on my funeral day as I really want to be 100% ready to meet the Creator, 100% happy to meet Him. But my sister said it is impossible. We both made promises that day of what we want  each other to ensure what need to be done should we passes before one another. It was a good thing that we were involved in the whole process. It leaves our heart at peace, knowing she passed on a good day, deserved a treatment of "khusnul khatimah", being dead on Friday and while on accident.

Our 10 sibling has now reduce to 7 as of now. Number 9 left before number 1 and 4. What left is number 2, 3, 5, 6 (me), 7, 8 and 10, all in the above photo.
