Brussels - 2 night stay in Ibis Hotel

Length of stay: 9th till 11th October 2015

Apparently, it is more than 1 Ibis Hotel in Brussels. We came to know about it when the cab driver asked us to confirm the address of the one that we booked at. Yes, ours was situated at Grand Place with an address as Grasmarkt 100, Rue du Marche aux Herbes 100, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. And, we chose this hotel due to its most strategic location, especially for the tourist.

We arrived at Brussels Midi by bus but the station was quite empty due to the rail strike. Being arrived at the station for the first time, I was rather clueless and depending to what Anne has searched including the map to the hotel that she printed. She assured me that the hotel is located very close by to the hotel and we have to take a city train from Brussels Midi to Brussels Central. It was not so according to the hotel website. Both stations had about similar distance to the hotel, more than 1km. We finally managed to find our way to the central station, heading our way towards the hotel thereafter with Anne sense of direction and assistance from the local, who hardly speaks English. To make the story short, I pleaded the cab driver to take us to Ibis Hotel as pushing a trolley luggage onto the pebbles stone pavement was quite a heart breaking story. Since he refused, I took charge of looking at the map from Anne and we finally saw the hotel sign. That night, I slept like there's no tomorrow. It was very stressful and tiring day. Please take my advice, take cab instead.

Having being located at a most top location, i.e. the Grand Place and the historical center of Brussels, the Ibis Brussels off Grand'Place offers a direct access towards the international airport by the railway station. Metro, the Congress Palace, the main shopping areas and the cultural district are only a few meters away. It has 184 air-conditioned and modern rooms, a pleasant bar, free wifi access. For those smokers, kindly take notes that this hotel is completely no- smoking hotel which in their opinion is the ideal place to book for business and leisure purposes. There is 10 connecting rooms available in this hotel, suited for large family group.

View from our room

There are multiple types of rooms available:-

  • Room with 1 double bed + 1 extra bed equipped with 1 large double bed, 1 single bed, desk, internet, parquet flooring, LCD flat screen TV, all the best channels and a bathroom with shower or bathtub.
We booked room with 2 single bed, suffice and comforting enough for us 2 for 2 nights stay. You may visit their website at this link, "Ibis Brussels-off-grand-place" for more information.

Admittedly, I like a comfy stay in this 3 star hotel that we booked and paid at Euro190 for 2 nights. The room and the facilities suffice for our short stay in  Brussels. It was my second experienced in Ibis, the first was in Bucharest Ibis Hotel. Both had a similar taste in everything. Give it a try, a value for money kind of hotel.

I shall continue from today onward to share all the attractions that we've at the 8 cities during the 4th leg travel.
