Date: 13th May 2018
I have been voting since PRU13.
It must be shocking to some but I have my reasons for not doing so before. I
grew up in rural Kelantan where the people are being divided into “BN” or “PAS”.
Everything has been separated in the name of the political parties. There are 2
mosque, 2 surau, 2 community hall and even the families argued over political
disparity in my village. My family for instance has similar problem. Both of my
parent are PAS members but our 2 neighbours (both are mother’s cousin) are not.
BN sides are more liberal whilst PAS supporter being seen as traditional,
conservative. Since young age, I hate the fact that the politician’s malicious
act that separated the nation, the states, the villages, the families and the
unity of the people. They doing so for their own benefit, to attract voters and
as soon as they being elected as leaders, they ended up being so corrupt in managing
the countries.
My father brought us up with just
and moral values. He never take advantages of him assisting PAS party for his
family benefit. He sponsored our studies with his savings. I did not enjoy any
scholarship from the government except some small assistance from JKR, where he
worked. I received minor compensation when I excel in my studies from JKR. So,
I never expected to get support from the Government hence I do not any
relevance for me to involve in voting at all the election.
In 2007, while waiting for travel
arrangement to Karachi, I was for a short while station in IJM Headquarters. I
started to buy newspaper reading about Altantuya’s murder case. Dato’ Seri
Najib (hereinafter refer as DSN) and the wife were both linked to the case. I
started to focus to this couple and little did I know at that time that the
couple has a gut to do a lot more harm to the nation. What was concluded at
that time was; DSN has misused his power being a Minister of Defence in getting
his political aid, Abdul Razak Baginda freed from all allegation relating to Altantuya
case. DSN and his political aid were clearly involved in the dealing to
purchase the Scorpene submarines from France for the Malaysian government.
Altantuya, who being filled with greed had threatened Abdul Razak Baginda only
over USD11,000 and that caused her death. I personally concluded that the case
is too big for DSN to clear his link to the murder case and will no longer has
any privileges in the party.
However, after the election on
2008 (PRU12), DSN star started to shine brightly. Never in my rational thought could
imagine that he would be elected as the Prime Minister of Malaysia and serve
the country from 3rd April 2009 till 10th May 2018. How
could, the only person that can authorise the 2 Government officer’s Azilah
Hadri and Sirul Azhar to take out an explosives in the stock of federal police
headquarters in Bukit Aman to be used in the murder of Altantuyaa being trusted
with the most scared position in Malaysia. He is in power for 9 years where a
lot more bad incidents happened to Malaysia.
Thereafter, I enrolled myself in
University Malaya to take up a Degree in Jurisprudence to understand more about
the rule of law and the governing matter. The only way to outcast the sacred
post, Prime Minister is through exercising my right as Malaysian. I registered
and started voting in 2013. Unfortunately DSN star was at his peak. Allah
wanted to punish the Malaysian as we, the pupils are deserving to have DSN due
to our ignorance too. Not long after, everyone started to change including Tun
Mahathir. That was the results of 2018, i.e. PRU14. Now, as I’m writing this, justice
started to surface one by one, including the truth about the RM2.6Billion
scandal. But be careful, politicians are still politician. Not many people can
put aside the temptation of “cash is king”.
Moving forward, though my prayer
has been answered when DSN was overthrown and prohibited from leaving the country,
I continue my prayer daily, seeking Allah’s assistance to guide all of
Malaysian to gradually change for the better. Once we change, people around us
will change too and who knows that one day the whole politician who is
entrusted with power will carry duties following the Holy Book and the Rule of
Malaysian Law. I would end this entry with small portion of Rumi’s quote of “Pity
the Nation”
Pity
the nation whose statesman is a fox,
whose
philosopher is a juggler,
and
whose art is the art of patching and mimicking.
Pity
the nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpeting,
and
farewells him with hooting,
only
to welcome another with trumpeting again.
Pity
the nation whose sages are dumb with years
and
whose strong men are yet in the cradle.
Pity
the nation divided into fragments,
each
fragment deeming itself a nation"
